A Guide to Thule Roof Racks – Fit Kits, Footpacks & Roof Bars
A Thule Roof rack is generally made up of three important components: the fit kit, the footpack and the roof bar itself.
Fit Kits
Thule fit kits are small but vital components in securing a
Thule roof rack.
Fit kits act as an adapter for specific vehicle models.
Fitting kits attach to the
footpack and the car, and allow the roof rack to be secured perfectly in place. Not all models require a fitting kit however. To find out if your vehicle requires one you can head to our roof bar guide page here.
Foot packs
Foot packs are the components which allow roof bars to be mounted and secured onto the vehicle.
Foot packs are used in conjunction with
fitting kits to ensure a perfect fit.
Footpacks slide onto the underside of the
roof bar and are fixed into position on the vehicle using a lock and key system.
Roof Bars
Atop of the
footpack is the
roof bar.
Thule roof bars come in a variety of styles to meet different requirements and fit different car models.
Roof bars are usually fixed onto the vehicle using a foot pack and fitting kit.
Thule roof bars are designed to be compatible with various accessories which are attached onto the bars.
